Artist's Comments

Still in the middle of a little new-years cleaning up of the hard-drive, these aren´t new, but gallery-worthy in their original form anyway. Any crits are always welcome, even though I won´t be doing any changes to these. But still, tips are always handy in future works.

Thanks for checking out. :peace:

Great work, is the nebular painted on a photomanip?

It´s all Apophysis-renders compiled on top of each other in Photoshop, with a little manipulation. The only painted element in this particular piece is parts of the light in the center. Using renders is so much more faster than painting, that I always try to pull the needed effects with them, before even thinking about starting to paint. :)

I'm assuming that's the standard Apophysis and not the 3d version, although I suppose that would
produce some interesting effects.

When you create the fractals, do you use the batch renders or do you make them purely from scratch?

Sorry for all the questions.

Yep, standard for all the space-related work, I´ve tried the 3d also, but didn´t really need it for the space-materials anyway. I use both batch-renders as base for the renders, and sometime render them out as they are, and sometime edit them a little in apophysis. Usually just the way they are though, and only later edit them further with photoshop while building up a space-piece.

And I use the spherical variation on the random batch created each time by apophysis, that produces nice and abstract flames, that suit best for materials I´m after. A lot of color, with some details, not too much though. And when many of renders like that are slapped together, the result is always a somewhat detailed nebula-like image. :)
